How do I know I should try therapy?

Ultimately, the decision to try therapy is a personal one. Therapy offers support, validation, and space to process your life. If you're experiencing stress, anxiety, emotions that feel overwhelming, struggling with relationships, or simply seeking support for life transitions, therapy can be valuable resource for you.

What happens on a consultation call?

During a consultation call, we will talk about your reasons for seeking therapy and what you are looking for in a therapist. This is your opportunity to ask questions about the process, anything you want to know about me and next steps. If you decide to move forward we will discuss scheduling and go from there.

Why do private pay instead of insurance for therapy?

Choosing private pay for therapy offers added flexibility and privacy. It allows you to work with any therapist of your choice, set your own pace and goals, and avoid limitations like session caps or required diagnoses. While many people benefit from using insurance, private pay can provide a more personalized experience without the requirements that sometimes come with insurance-based care.

How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?

The right therapist is someone you can open up to in order to feel heard and understood. If you don’t feel comfortable with me, we won’t get very far. Finding the right therapist is like finding a good pair of jeans, you want a good fit for you. It’s okay to meet with different therapists until you find someone who truly clicks with you. A free consultation call can help you determine if we are a good fit.

How long does therapy take?

Ultimately, therapy moves at the pace of the client. The length of therapy really depends on your goals, what you’re working through and how deep you want to go. Some people come to tackle a specific issue, while others are looking for ongoing support and stay longer. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy is still feeling helpful and aligned with what you need. Some clients take a break and reach out when additional support is needed again.

What will my first therapy session be like?

The initial session(s) are all about getting to know each other and building a connection, while you get a sense of my style, approach and overall vibe. In many ways, it’s kind of like a date, but your date is taking notes on what you share and asking deeper questions than what you do for a living. You are interviewing me in many ways to see if someone you can open up with. Client’s do complete intake paperwork prior to the initial session that gives me some information, but the first session is a conversation on who you are and why you are there.

Is online therapy effective?

Yes, it really is! In many ways, online therapy allows saves clients time in their day by being able to start a session from comfortable space. Research does support this as well showing that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy. All clients must be physically located in either Texas or Arizona during the session. All sessions are through a HIPAA compliant video telehealth platform.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

I understand that life happens and sometimes you may need to cancel or reschedule. To ensure fairness and to keep my practice running smoothly, if you are unable to attend/need to reschedule a session, I ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or changes. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee, as this time is reserved just for you and could have been offered to someone else in need.

Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weakness.”
